Description:

The Arizona Approaches to Pandemics, Lung & Sleep (AAPLS) Research Career Training Program is now accepting applications from junior faculty members and transitioning postdoctoral scientists in the biomedical sciences workforce. This all-expenses-paid program provides advanced research training, structured mentorship, and professional development focused on lung and sleep-related breathing disorders.

Participants will receive training in grantsmanship, scientific writing, epidemiology and biostatistics, data science and machine learning, community-based participatory research, leadership development, and team science. The program includes two summer institutes in Tucson, Arizona (2026 and 2027), ongoing mentoring and didactic instruction, a mid-year visit, and participation in the Annual Meeting for Scholars in Bethesda, Maryland.

The program is designed to support scholars in developing independent research programs, strengthening leadership skills, and advancing toward NIH funding opportunities.
