Summary
The Li lab within the Section of Hematology and Oncology
at Baylor College of Medicine invites applications for a postdoctoral
research position to work on epidemiology and outcomes research in
cancer associated thrombosis. The postdoctoral fellow will work primarily with Dr. Li, a
hematology/oncology physician scientist and CPRIT scholar who
specializes in thrombosis research and cancer epidemiology. The lab will
train fellow specialized skills to incorporate novel data science tools
in large-scale collaborative epidemiology studies using electronic
health records and to become successful, cross-trained cancer and
thrombosis epidemiologists and health services researcher.
Job Duties
- Designs cohort, case control, and cross-sectional studies using institutional and national claims and EHR databases.
- Designs and gather primary and secondary data using REDCap.
- Works on research projects that involve computable phenotype
characterization, incidence estimation, risk assessment model
derivation/validation, propensity score weighted analysis,
cost-effectiveness analysis, longitudinal trend analysis, and
difference-in-differences analysis.
- Analyzes data and prepares manuscripts and presentations at local, national, and international conferences.
- Writes career development grants for future promotion.
- Contributes as needed to the training of laboratory personnel,
research technicians, clinical fellows, and graduate/medical students.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD epidemiology or health services research, or MD with MS/MPH in
epidemiology or health services research can be considered with
extensive prior research experience and publication.
- A strong record of first or senior-position peer-reviewed publications.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Proficiency in R or Stata.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Matlab/Perl/Python.
